A Brief History

 

• 1999 An-Nour Supplementary School was founded by Dr Samia Ibrahim and Nancy Al-Kattan. Alhamdulillah it has been successfully expanding ever since!
   

• 2003 We setup an Adult Class for those wanting to learn Arabic language (reading, writing, speaking and listening), due to high demand.
   

• 2004 We initiated a GCSE Arabic Class to prepare our young students for their GCSE Arabic Exam (Edexcel), resulting in outstanding achievements (A* - B).
   

• 2006 We opened a Nursery Class for children aged 4-5 years.
   

• 2008 Due to unprecedented demand we opened another Reception Class.
   

• 2010 We setup an Arabic Quranic class for those children who are interested in reciting and understanding the Quran in addition to Islamic values and principles (in English), and are not interested in the Arabic language (speaking and listening).
   

• 2010 Due to unprecedented demand we opened an Arabic Quranic class for all women (16+ years). Only for those who are interested in reciting and understanding the Quran, in addition to Islamic values and principles (in English).
   

• 2014 We setup an AS/A Level Arabic Class to prepare our students for their AS Arabic exams, resulting in outstanding achievements (A-B).   

 

• The school enrols children between the ages of 4 and 17 years, distributed into different classes and differentiated on their abilities (not their age).

• The school has excellent, extremely competent and committed teachers. They teach a remarkable group of young Muslims.

• The lessons are based around the following subjects: Arabic language, reciting and understanding the Qur’an, in addition to Islamic values and principles (in English). 

​

• An-Nour School teaches the Arabic language using Arabic Book syllabus textbooks, plus Gateway to Arabic books and other materials.

​

• The school is open every Saturday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm for 33 weeks with half- terms and school holidays excluded.
